Addiction on Video Games

One of the issues of today is addiction on video games. But what are video games? Video games are examples of entertainment that people use of today which normally make use of technology.

Who invented video games?

Ralph Baer is known as "The Father of Video Games". He is a German-American game developer. In the above picture, he is showing the prototype of the first game console which he invented during a press conference on the Games Convention Online in Leipzig,Germany in 2009.

Now I will show you some places and different devices used to play video games.

1. Video Games in Arcades

This became the piggy bank of most teenagers. Instead of going to school, they spend their allowances going to these places and playing these games.

2. Online games in computer shops

Unlike in arcades where you can only play one game in one machine, in computers you can play more than a game,so this can be more addictive specially to teenagers. Some students today escape from school because they want to go to a computer shop. I appreciate those computer shops that strictly do not allow students to play DURING class hours.  There are, however, some who post "No students allowed during class hours" but still entertainment students.... for money of course. But they just contribute to these kids' addiction to games.

3.Smart phones and tablets

Computer cannot be brought anywhere, but these Smart phones and tablets are portable you can bring them anywhere, this means it is more dangerous to kids, teenagers, and even adults. How? They can play anywhere any time they want. And because of this they cannot have a social time or quality time with their family.

These devices and places can one lead to addiction. Video and online games should only fill a boring moment, not fill our whole lives with it. There are more important things in life that need focusing. We can avoid addiction on video and online games.
These are some ways I know:

1. Reading books / learning something new

Reading books can help us avoid addiction. You can't learn anything from playing video games, but books can give us knowledge. We can read novels, even books used in school. Focusing on these can help us, especially students, improve our academic performance.

2. Playing with your family, relatives, and friends

Playing board games can improve your scientific and mathematical skills and even vocabulary, plus you can get closer to your family, relatives, and friends.

3. Spending quality time outside the home

Having quality time with our family and relatives can also help us avoid addiction on video and online games. You can also avoid being anti-social when you spend time with people close to your heart.  Get to know them better, and let them know you better. These are people that you can interact with, someone who can listen to you and give you a hug.... some things video or online games can never do for you.

These ways can help us avoid video games. Video games are just entertainment, it should stay that way... entertain us when we get bored... entertain us for a short while. If we focus on these we will never learn anything or something new.  It is important to be balance, there is always a time for everything. TIME is GOLD, spend it WISELY.
